The origin of the Led Zeppelin’s name

by admin on Mar.10, 2010, under Interesting Facts

DB2017_LED_ZEPPELIN 36571 One story of the band’s naming, which has become almost legendary, has it that John Entwistle and Keith Moon, bassist and drummer for The Who suggested that a possible super band containing them, Jimmy Page, and Jeff Beck would go down like a lead zeppelin, a term Entwistle used to describe a bad gig. The group deliberately dropped the ‘a’ in Lead at the suggestion of their manager, Peter Grant, to prevent “thick Americans” from pronouncing it “leed”.
